As you may have picked up, if you read my postings or see my self portrait work, I have been rocking the alt ombré look with blackish roots and crazy train red down at the bottom. Well, over the weekend, I decided to flip the script on the hair again, and change it back to a pretty normal brown/black (see below):
All the crazy red is gone and I can focus on letting the hair stuff grow. Not that I couldn’t let it grow with the red, but I just hit my limit with it. It was boring to keep touching up the red every 4-6 weeks and then everything turning red or pink for about a week after while it set. Typically, I can go 3-6 months before the mop needs something new and since a cut was out of the question, it was time to deal with the color.
Having a background in cosmetology really helps in situations like this. I know what products to use to save the hair and I know what colors to use to cancel out any unnecessary tones within the hair to make it look awesome. Oddly enough, it has been so long since I had a simple color, this almost feels like something shocking.
I really dig the chestnut kind of color and I think it will lend itself nicely to the grow out too.
In other news, the boyfriend and I have upped the quality time a bit since the vacation and that has been nice. We are gaming more, which has been fun and churning up fond memories of the time when we first met, and we have also started to spend more time disconnecting from the internet when not gaming together. Sure, there are times I just want to watch TV and there are times when he wants to play his games, but we have started to find the sync we needed to keep moving forward. It has been rather nice.
The new game of our choosing has been FFXIV: ARR or for the non-gamers out there, that is Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. Since I had the v1.0 of the game, I didn’t have to pay anything to start it up, which was nice. Interestingly enough, the boyfriend and I met through FFXI, so it does seem kind of poetic that we would be back on a Final Fantasy right around our 5 year anniversary. I really love the changes they made and I look forward to playing this in our spare time as it allows.
For shits and giggles, I tried to go back to WoW just before we picked FFXIV in anticipation for the WoD expansion in November, but I just felt super lost. I created a character on a new realm, and “may” play with it here and there, but chances are, after this month, I will get freeze the account again.
I do find it interesting, since school ended, how much time I have to devote to different things that I had not thought about much until recently. Joining a gym, playing more games, creating my own art, getting a trainer and so on just seem like things other people do, and yet, I am doing it. Kind of, sort of a liberating experience if I do say so myself.
Speaking of free…..
On that note, it is time for me to head back out into the world; until next time…
