As of 9:00 AM this morning, I finished my final project, made sure I had my final postings and assignments turned in, and I am OFFICIALLY done with school! Woohoo!
There were times when I thought I would never make it to the end, and then there were other times the weeks would fly by and I would complete another term. It is quite a thing to go back to school after you already have a job/career, a family, priorities, and so much more because you have a passion for something and you finally decide that it is time to pursue it.
This takes me to a thought. You are never too old to give your dreams a chance, and if you want something bad enough, you will stay the course. Since I was a child, I loved art and I let other things get in the way of it. I let nay-sayers tell me I wasn’t good enough, I let my own internal voice put me in fear, and I let life take control of what I wanted, rather than allowing myself to go after what I wanted. As I hit my later 20’s and early 30’s something occurred to me, “It is up to me to do it (anything)”. So, I did.
That is how my boyfriend and I got together, that is how I got to where I am at work, that is how I got through school this time around, and that is why I am so dedicated to all the things I am currently enjoying out in the really real world. The gym, the good food, the yoga, and the meditation; they are all making me a complete person.
I don’t let negatives hold me back. Sure, they may feel like a giant punch to the ovaries at times, but I don’t let them push me down to the point where I don’t think I can get back up. I always get back up. Kind of like Million Dollar Baby if it ended happily LOL!
I heard a great quote that I will leave you with from Hillbilly Jim (WWE Legend); “I’m not here for a long time, I am here for a good time.”
Life is short; seize it. Time is precious; cherish it. Gratitude and happiness are love; share it.
Until next time, my friends….
