Today is just one of those days where I feel a few quotes speaking to me about perspectives in life.  In no particular order:

“Associate yourself with people of good quality, for it is better to be alone than in bad company.”
– Booker T. Washington

I agree with Booker on this one.  I have always been happier with the company of myself and few kindred spirits over the company of a sea of obscurity and inconsequential rubbish.  Of course, for me, it means quality over quantity; this does not mean I believe in loneliness.  THAT would be complete rubbish.

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
– Mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi had something with this one, for sure.  We have all heard the saying, “Forgive and forget”.  I often struggle with the act of forgiveness, but I like to think that because I try to honor this practice, that I have the strength to reach it for each and every single person, situation, or thing that has shown a wrongness in my life.  Sometimes I skip straight to the forgetting, but that doesn’t really abolish the pain they have cause, it just buries it, which means that it will one day surface.  Thank, Gandhi, for the reminder.

“An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet. Regardless of time, place, or circumstances, the thread may stretch or tangle but will never break.”
– Red String of Fate | Chinese Folklore

With my boyfriend and I having celebrated our second anniversary being together (sort of), this was the quote that meant the most to me.  We have known each other for 7 years, on and off with the communicating part, and we still seem to come back even amidst all this distance.  We have had different paths and relationships along the way, but in the end, we seem to get closer and closer to shortening the distance to mere feet rather than miles.

October will not only mark the month of his birth (and another year older), but it will also be the time when we make our way home together.

I hope everyone out there has a great and zen-like day!
